How do I monitor
my portfolio?

Passive stock investment
Passive investing is a way to manage your investments for maximum efficiency over time. In other words, an investing method that takes a buy-and-hold approach.

Active stock investment
An active approach to investing that requires buying and selling, hoping to maximise gains by buying and selling more frequently and at specific times.

What type of stocks do you want to buy?
Value Stocks - Value investing, made famous by Warren Buffet, focuses on companies with a proven track record of fundamental value, which usually outperforms during market downturns.

High Dividend Stocks - This includes stocks that pay dividend yields that are higher than the average yield on a benchmark index.

Growth Stocks - This includes stocks of companies (typically tech stocks such as the FAANG constituents) growing faster than companies in the general stock markets and even faster than their competitors.

Risks and Fees
The risks and fees vary depending on whether you trade CFDs on shares or buy cash equities. Trading can be seen as riskier than traditional shade dealing due to the use of leverage.

Diversifying Through Shares & ETFs
Investing in ETFs allow you to maximise your diversification as it enables you to buy shares in multiple stocks in a ‘basket’. In contrast, cash equities expose you to a single company’s risk and performance.

Earnings Reports
Use quarterly or annual earnings release reports to determine whether the company you have invested in is performing to your expectations.

Macroeconomic Data
Economic conditions and data releases like GDP and retail sales can impact the company’s growth and share prices.

Market Sentiment
Share price movements aren't always based on fundamental analysis. The view that the public and market participants have on a particular stock can cause demand to fluctuate.

Interest Rates
Lower interest rates may lead to increased activity in the stock market as people seek higher returns through investing in stocks and shares rather than saving their money in a bank account where they might achieve less growth.

Growth
Stock investing is filled with intricate strategies and approaches, yet some of the most successful investors have yet to do much more than stick with the basics. Learning to research and study stocks is worth your time if individual stocks appeal to you. When you're choosing a stock, it's important that you carry out your own due diligence on a company, sector, and economy.
